Renew Membership

Membership expires December 31st of each year. Renewal may completed as early as November 1st. (NOTE: If you have a non-athlete membership, background checks are performed at the time of membership renewal and may take up to several days to complete, so plan accordingly to allow adequate time prior to serving as a coach and/or official in the new year.) Log in to your account here. Upon renewal (and following background check completion, if applicable), be sure to print updated membership card and affix to inside cover of passbook.

Throughout each year, check when physical, clinic attendance, and/or exams expire, as applicable (refer to passbook to check these dates); renew accordingly. Log in to your account here. Upon completion, be sure to print updated membership card and affix to inside cover of passbook.

Starting a Club

Plenty of areas throughout the state have a shortage of clubs, and starting a club is easier than you may think. All you primarily need is the knowledge and drive, a space, and a bit of equipment. Register as a coach (see above) and register your club, then you are ready to register and start training your first boxer.

Remember: The space doesn’t need to be large or fancy, just as long as you have enough to meet your needs; you can always look to expand or move to a larger space as your club grows. You can start out with basic equipment, even used (there’s often secondhand equipment for sale that’s still in fine shape or even barely used), and add variety and/or quantity as needed. Be open to growing and learning as a coach, and you’ll be well on your way to having a successful club.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I be a boxer, a coach, &/or official simultaneously?

Yes, you may be any combination or all of the above. At shows, we will work with you to avoid conflicts of interest as well as overlapping time needs. Coaches & Officials are both non-athlete memberships, so once you have a non-athlete membership for one, you need only complete the other requirements (i.e. testing). When registering for a second membership type (non-athlete & athlete), a discount is given for the second membership.

If I already have a current SafeSport as a coach, do I need to retake the exam to become an Official (or vice versa)?

No, as long as it is current, it will meet the requirement for both.

My registration expired; can I renew or do I have to set up a new registration?

[Information Coming Soon]

Is there a minimum age to be a boxer? Coach? Official?

[Information Coming Soon]

Is there a maximum age to be a boxer?
No, as long as you pass the required physical examination. Athletes 35 & over do require a more in-depth physical (see "Masters Physical Forms").
What if I want to learn to box but not compete; do I still need to register?

USA Boxing offers a fitness membership which is for training only (NO sparring & NO competing).

What is the minimum level Coach's Certification needed in order to work a boxer's corner?

Green Level certification.

Can a boxer work another boxer's corner?

A certified coach needs to work the corner, but a registered boxer may assist. However, in the presence of two certified coaches, he/she may not enter the ring or mount the ring apron. In the event there is only one certified coach in the corner, the boxer may mount the ring apron.

I left my passbook with Officials in another state and am waiting to get it back; what should I do if I want to participate in an event in the meantime?

Let Officials know when you arrive for weigh-in. We will work with you on a temporary alternative. Keep in mind that if you had any paperwork in your passbook that wasn't yet uploaded (i.e. birth certificate or current physical), you will need to bring another copy with you.

My passbook is lost or damaged beyond use; what should I do?
If you think you may have left it an event within WI, contact Registration Chair (Sarah Rosado) to see if we have it. If you otherwise lost it, or it became damage beyond use, contact Registration Chair for a replacement. A replacement fee of $25 will be required.
